Hawk Island

Due to COVID-19 there are activities and programs that will not take place this year. Park playgrounds and shelters remain closed at least through June 30th as park staff evaluate how to adhere to state and county guidelines regarding social distancing in these spaces. The following  amenities will not be offered in 2020: Hawk Island Splash Pad©, pedal boat rentals, and the beach is closed. The health and safety of our park patrons and staff is of the upmost importance. We appreciate your understanding as we try to navigate these uncertain times, and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Hawk Island County Park is a 100 acre park, located on Cavanaugh Road, between Pennsylvania Avenue and Aurelius Road, in south Lansing is the newest park in our system. Long-time residents will remember the Sablain Gravel Pit location, which has been transformed into a beautiful park featuring natural planting areas.

Please note there is a vehicle entrance fee to enter Hawk Island year round.

Hawk Island offers rowboat and pedal boat rental, a swimming beach, Splash Pad®, picnic areas and shelters, sand volleyball, horseshoes, paved accessible walkways (1.5 miles) and fishing docks and a concession stand. Come check out the community built playground or the state-of-the-art Splash Pad®. In the winter, bring the family and enjoy snow tubing! Then warm up and take a break in the warming lodge. Dogs are allowed at Hawk Island with the exception of the area between the playground and the concession stand, which comprises the beach and Splash Pad® area. All dogs must be on a 6 foot or less leash.

Hours of Operation:
The park opens one half hour before sunrise for pedestrian access and 8:00am for vehicle access. The park closes one half hour after sunset, unless otherwise posted. Winter hours may vary depending on snow conditions, please call 517-676-2233 for specific winter hours.
