Hawk Island Snowboarding Area

Click HERE for information on winter sports availability.

Please note there is a vehicle entrance fee at Hawk Island.  Hawk Island offers a snow tubing hill and a separate area for beginners to learn to snowboard.  Click here for more information on snow tubing.  We are stepping away from the “extreme” features of the terrain park this year, adding more tubing runs and having a beginner snowboarding area, groomed for those just learning the sport.

Please bring your own snowboarding equipment, rentals are not provided.  Fee based lessons are planned for those with their own equipment.  Users will walk to the top of the snowboarding area--a rope tow is not available for this area. Please note skiing is prohibited.

Snow-making machines will be used to extend the time the hill can be used.  There is also a warming building and snack bar.  In addition, the 1.5 mile paved path around the lake and the River Trail South between Hawk Island Park and Potter Park is cleared of snow and is available for walking or jogging.

Winter Snack Bar

Hawk Island has a small concession area offering hot chocolate, coffee, soda, candy, and chips.
